Isabel LaRosa @ Union Stage // 03.26.2024
Isabel LaRosa and Ari Abdul set out in early March on their co-headlining GOD’S WATCHING TOUR 2024, stopping in over a dozen major cities across North America. On March 26, they brought their addictive dark-pop sounds to Union Stage, where stylish fans packed the intimate D.C. venue.
Kicking off the night, singer-songwriter and producer Thomas LaRosa performed a couple tracks – including his recently released single, “Dangerous” – and a few popular covers such as The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” and Hozier’s “Take Me To Church.” Fans were completely enamored by his performance as he showcased both his vocal and guitar talents, effortlessly switching between the two throughout.
Ari Abdul arrived at the stage next, shrouded in deep red lighting that gave her a mysterious vibe for most of her set. She performed songs such as “Sinners”,” and “HUSH,” and the ever-popular “BABYDOLL,” as well as her newest single, “DFHMPU”. The crowd went absolutely wild, screaming words of adoration and reaching out to hold her hand as she walked around the stage. Many audience members also passed forward small gifts such as a necklace and sunglasses, as well as their phones to which she gladly used to record selfie videos during a few tracks.
Rounding out the evening, Isabel LaRosa appeared from the shadows wearing her iconic motorcycle helmet, before coolly tossing it and her oversized coat aside as she launched into the final, energetic set of the night. Thomas joined her on stage with his guitar, and together they played fan-favorites such as “Older”, “HELP,” and “eyes don’t lie,” even teasing a newly requested track called “favorite,” which was officially released across all streaming and social media platforms on March 29. Thomas and Isabel bounced across the stage against strobing lights that pulsed in time to the music. Finally, near the end of the show they requested everyone pull out their phone lights, creating a beautiful sea of stars across the venue.
Although the GOD’S WATCHING TOUR is quickly coming to an end, this is just the beginning of what is sure to be a sensational year for this talented trio of rising artists.
